WASHINGTON (AP) - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton.

De Blasio made the announcement on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday. He said Clinton has a history of fighting for income equality, paid family leave, pre-k for all kids and voting rights, among other issues.

“We have to take on economic inequality. It is the issue of our time. We have to restore the middle class. And Hillary Clinton knows how to do that,” de Blasio said.

Clinton is supported by most, if not all, of the other New York Democratic politicians. But de Blasio had held off on endorsing her for several months.
