DALLAS (AP) - Dallas authorities say they have opened a homicide investigation after human remains were found in the yard of an Oak Cliff home last month.

Dallas police said Thursday that they could not confirm whether the remains found at the home on Sept. 24 are those of the former owner, who has not been seen or heard from since April.

The remains are now in the custody of the Dallas County medical examiner.
