BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) - A former vice principal of Holston View Elementary School in Bristol has been indicted for child neglect.

Media outlets report a Sullivan County grand jury on Wednesday indicted 35-year-old Cherith Roberts, who is the second administrator at the school to be charged this year. Principal Jerry Poteat was charged with attempted abuse of a student. Authorities say they learned about Roberts while investigating Poteat.

Sullivan County Prosecutor Julie Canter says on Jan. 7, Roberts carried out improper discipline against a student who was younger than 8-years-old, causing the child psychological harm.

School spokeswoman Rebecca Craddock says Roberts was placed on administrative leave a month later. She says Roberts was assigned to an administrative task role in August and has no contact with students or parents.
