CHICAGO (AP) - A suburban Chicago gymnastics coach has been suspended amid accusations she sexually abused two children with disabilities during a trip to Georgia for a competition.

Special Olympics Illinois announced Thursday that it’s suspending 48-year-old Patricia Hermann of Schaumberg from all coaching and volunteer activities.

Hermann is charged with three counts of sexual battery against a minor and one count of aggravated sexual battery in Cobb County, Georgia. She’s being held at the Cook County Jail without bond until she’s extradited to Georgia.

For years Hermann has coached and worked with children with disabilities as the founder and CEO of Elite Stars, a Schaumburg-based gymnastics program that teaches people with developmental and physical disabilities.

Hermann is under investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

It wasn’t immediately clear if she has an attorney.
