BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A University of Vermont sorority has been suspended after officials say members posted inappropriate pictures on social media.

Director of Student Life Pat Brown says members of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority inappropriately placed cut-out pictures of their heads onto other pictures. He says some of the photos were overly sexual or suggested sexism.

The group has been placed on an interim suspension and is expected to be reviewed by the chapter’s national headquarters in the next week.

The chapter, which began in 1921, currently has 70 members.

Brown says three to six organizations are placed on interim suspension each year.

Officials at the sorority’s Indianapolis headquarters declined to comment.
