NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) - The announced closure of a Norfolk retailer will cost the northeast Nebraska city about 35 full and part-time jobs shortly after Christmas.

The Norfolk Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1N27DLG ) that multimedia retailer Hastings Entertainment announced this week its plans to close its Norfolk location.

John Merklein with Hastings Entertainment cited the store’s lagging profit performance for the closure.

The store will be conducting a going-out-of-business sale through Dec. 26, which will be the location’s last official day of business. Customers with gift cards will be able to use them at the company’s online store.

The Norfolk location is one of 125 Hastings stores in 19 states. It sells new and used books, videos, video games and CDs, as well as consumer electronics merchandise and offers videos and video game rental.
