ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Officials are investigating what caused an apartment building fire that displaced five people in Rochester.

A neighbor saw flames coming from the outside of the building on Friday afternoon and ran over and banged on the door of an apartment to warn residents inside.

Firefighters told WMUR-TV (https://bit.ly/1Of3A4v ) that heavy smoke was coming from the third floor of the building when they arrived.

The first floor was vacant. The residents of the other floors were able to get out the building on their own.

Officials say the fire and battling it caused significant water and smoke damage throughout the building.
