LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) - A commercial airline says it plans to begin service between Los Alamos and Albuquerque this weekend.

Boutique Air’s first flight from the Los Alamos Municipal Airport is scheduled for Sunday. A ribbon-cutting ceremony organized by the airline and Los Alamos County will take place Monday.

The schedule will feature three daily round-trip flights between the cities.

The airline’s chief executive, Shawn Simpson, says Los Alamos is a unique community that’s oriented around world-class research so the airline expects it to be a significant destination for many.

Los Alamos is home to one of the nation’s premiere nuclear weapons laboratories. It will also host part of the new Manhattan Project National Historical Park.

Aside from New Mexico, Boutique Air offers routes in several states, including Arizona, California, Texas, Colorado, and Nebraska.
