BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Department of Commerce is accepting applications for a program to market biofuels.

The $1.2 million program sponsored through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership offers grants to test and evaluate ways to promote higher biofuel blends, such as E15 and E85.

North Dakota is one of 20 states selected to participate in the program.

Commerce officials say the award will encourage greater access to biofuels and give more choices to consumers.

North Dakota initiated a statewide blended-fuel pump program in 2009 that led to the installation of more than 200 pumps at 66 retail locations.
