RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper recovering from last weekend’s assault will be honored Saturday during a Rapid City Rush hockey game.

Ten-year veteran Zachary Bader is recovering in a Rapid City hospital from injuries not considered life-threatening. Authorities say he was assaulted on Interstate 90 while making a traffic stop last Saturday.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1SdlNhp ) that the Rush will honor Bader and his family at the team’s afternoon game against the Alaska Aces.

Bader will be proclaimed the Hero of the Game, a Rush tradition to honor a person in law enforcement or military service.

Rush spokeswoman Katie Lenerville says that Bader’s family will participate in the ceremonial puck drop, and the Rush Foundation will make a donation to the family.
