FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - A central New Jersey man who sexually assaulted a toddler and recorded the attack has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison.

Monmouth County prosecutors say Kevin Motyka will also be under lifetime parole supervision once he’s freed from prison and cannot have unsupervised contact with juveniles.

The 24-year-old Howell Township man had pleaded guilty in March to several charges, including aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment.

Motyka was arrested last year following an investigation that was spurred by tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities said Motyka sexually assaulted a 2-year-old boy between May and December 2012, and created photographs and video recordings of the attacks.

He also distributed child pornography images that did not include the boy.
