MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police said an officer was hit by a car on Saturday and a suspect was injured when the officer fired his gun at the fleeing vehicle.

A statement said that the unidentified 27-year-old man was arrested a short distance later. Both the suspect and the unidentified 45-year-old officer with 12 years of service on the Milwaukee force were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life threatening. The officer, who was placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated, was injured when the vehicle hit him.

Two other people were arrested during the incident.

No other details were immediately available.
