AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine Governor Paul LePage has made nominations for five judicial appointments.

LePage announced the nomination of two magistrates and two prosecutors as District Court judges and the nomination of a current superior court justice as an active retired justice.

The District Court nominations are two family law magistrates, Maria Woodman and Paul Mathews, along with Jed French, a private lawyer from Yarmouth, and Michael P. Roberts, deputy district attorney in Penobscot County. Superior Court Justice Paul Fritzsche (frit-CHEE’) has been nominated as an active retired justice in the same court.

All judicial nominations must be vetted by the judiciary committee and confirmed by the full Senate.
