ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A shuttle driver who was arrested for being drunk while transporting 15 to 20 passengers who had attended a wedding in Aspen has been sentenced to six months in jail.

The Aspen Daily News reports (https://goo.gl/fs8P0H ) 54-year-old Kenneth Maupin was sentenced Tuesday and will begin his term in April so he can keep his winter job.

Passengers told investigators they sensed Maupin was drunk as he was speeding, weaving, swerving and nearly driving off the road June 15, 2014. They ordered him to stop, and one of the passengers drove the van to an area with cell service to call 911.

Sheriff’s deputies found a 50-milliliter bottle of tequila in Maupin’s pocket and another empty bottle of the same size in the driver’s area of the shuttle. He had two previous drunken-driving convictions.
