ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage school officials say there are no injuries and all students are safe after a gas line break forced the evacuation of an elementary school on Wednesday.

Patti Layou with the school district’s communications department says all 460 students have been bused to South High School.

She says in an email to The Associated Press that it appears the gas line break was caused by a third party.

A robo call was sent to all parents informing them of the evacuation. Parents were told they could immediately pick up their children or the students could ride the bus home.

Layou says a wide area of the South Anchorage neighborhood near the elementary was part of the evacuation.
