ROCHESTER, N .Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 52-year-old Rochester man has been charged with stabbing a city police officer who was serving an arrest warrant for an open container charge.

Police officials say officers responded late Tuesday night to serve an arrest warrant at an address on Monroe Avenue where Ronald Baker lived. Authorities say Officer Francisco Santiago was knocking on the door when Baker came out and stabbed the cop in the left wrist with a large knife before slamming the door and locking it.

Police say the 31-year-old Santiago kicked the door in and arrested Baker at gunpoint.

Santiago was treated at a hospital and released.

Baker pleaded not guilty to attempted aggravated murder during his arraignment Wednesday in Rochester City Court. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.
