OGDEN, Utah (AP) - A 23-year-old Holladay woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing her girlfriend 46 times.

Victoria Mendoza entered a guilty plea in 2nd District Court on Thursday. She was scheduled for a review hearing, making her plea a surprise.

Mendoza admitted to killing 21-year-old Tawnee Baird in October 2014. Prosecutors say the couple had a volatile five-year relationship that included drug use, jealousy and physical fights. Police say Baird suffered 46 stab wounds last year after they fought about a guy.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 10.
