NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say one suspect was injured during an exchange of fire between police and three suspects in Brooklyn.

It happened Wednesday night near Park and North Portland avenues.

The NYPD says three police officers on patrol in an unmarked car were fired at as they drove past the three suspects. They say the car was hit several times but missed the two officers and one lieutenant inside.

Police say the officers returned fire at the fleeing suspects.

A .45-caliber gun was found beneath a nearby car.

Police say a 23-year-old man who went to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg was later arrested. He’s in stable condition.

The other suspects remain at large.
