MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say an Alabama man has been convicted of retaliating against a witness in a health care fraud lawsuit.

Authorities said Thursday that 64-year-old Jeffrey Alan Nursey was convicted of witness retaliation and faces up to 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Nursey worked for a company that produced hearing aids and sent letters to a witness who cooperated with federal prosecutors in a health care fraud case that Nursey was involved with.

Authorities say Nursey also posted flyers near the witness’s job saying he was a child molester and warning others to stay away from him.

Prosecutors say Nursey’s fingerprints were found on a letter that was sent to the man’s church.

Authorities say Nursey’s probation in the health care fraud case may also be revoked.
