FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - A Fresno children’s hospital has filed a lawsuit against lung doctors accusing them of trying to convince patients to switch to a rival medical group.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1R0WmyB ) that in a lawsuit filed by Valley Children’s Hospital and its affiliated Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group, three doctors are accused of accessing cystic fibrosis patient records without permission for financial and commercial gain.

The lawsuit also names the medical groups University Pediatric Specialists and Central California Faculty Medical Group as defendants.

The doctors did not return calls, but Central California Faculty Medical Group released an email statement saying that the doctors did nothing wrong.

The lawsuit is seeking exemplary and punitive damages of an unspecified amount.
