GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Five finalists for the Glendale city manager’s job will be interviewed next week by the mayor and City Council.

The finalists include John Pombier, a Mesa assistant city manager since 2011, and former Yuma County administrator David Garcia.

Garcia worked for Yuma County from 2003 to 2007 and has been the city manager of Coachella, California since 2010.

The other three finalists are Craig Malin, Kevin Phelps and Susan Thorpe.

Thorpe was a deputy city manager in Peoria from 2006 to 2013 and then an assistant city manager of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Phelps has been a deputy county executive in Pierce County, Washington since 2009. Malin was a city administrator in Davenport, Iowa for 14 years.

Glendale is looking to replace Brenda Fischer, who resigned in February after 19 months.
