GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - The Greenwood City Council has rejected a proposed 3 percent pay raise for the council’s part-time clerk.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports (https://bit.ly/1jQQopx ) council members voted 43 Tuesday against increasing Cinderella Morris’ salary from $30,971 to $31,907.

Councilwoman Lisa Cookston says she objected to granting a fourth pay raise since Morris was given the part-time job in 2009. Cookston says she has no problem with Morris or her job performance.

Before 2009, an employee from the city clerk’s office was paid $200 a month to handle the council’s proceedings.
