EDINBURG, Texas (AP) - Authorities say a man has been arrested and charged in a hit-and-run that killed a 19-year-old pedestrian over the weekend in South Texas.

Hernandez says Sanchez was crossing the road in a rural area near Edinburg when she was hit and the driver fled.

Torres remained in Hidalgo County jail on Thursday on $450,000 bond. Jail records did not list an attorney.
