HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man has been sentenced to six years in state prison for selling heroin that led to the overdose death of a woman in 2013.

The Record reports (https://bit.ly/1GxgkLB ) 28-year-old Jessie Kurzweil was sentenced Wednesday in Hackensack.

The Closter man pleaded guilty in July to his role in the death of 47-year-old Doreen Leach, of Emerson, who died from a fatal overdose at her apartment. Another man is currently facing charges in her death.

Kurzweil’s attorney said his client had “zero” knowledge that the heroin would be injected into Leach and result in her death.
