Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has indicated that he would be open to running for the position again after Kevin McCarthy removed his name from consideration.

Sean Hannity floated the idea on his radio program Thursday.

“Maybe this is a time for Newt Gingrich to come back with a flurry of ideas and a new contract that would advance a conservative agenda that would help the country solve these horrible problems,” Mr. Hannity said.

When presented with the idea, Mr. Gingrich, 72, said, “If you were to say to me 218 guys have called you up and given you their pledge, obviously no citizen could turn down that challenge.”

The former presidential candidate was skeptical, however, that such a situation would ever occur.
