HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The Henderson County district attorney says a woman will not be charged in the shooting death of her husband last month.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported (https://avlne.ws/1Qa9eC9) that District Attorney Greg Newman says Tina Bayne was acting in self-defense when she shot 45-year-old Thomas Coke Bayne at their home at Lake Toxaway on Sept. 25

Newman says Tina Bayne faced a “very serious and legitimate threat to her life when she shot her husband.

Transylvania County investigators and the State Bureau of Investigation reviewed the case.

Newman said Tina Bayne had been victimized by her husband for years. The prosecutor said Thomas Bayne’s behavior had become increasingly volatile in recent years.

Newman said Thomas Bayne had threatened to kill his wife before she shot him.
