PORT ROYAL, S.C. (AP) - A Port Royal man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after authorities say he opened fire on police officers.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that 30-year-old Joshua Rouzard was involved in two domestic dispute calls at a Port Royal mobile home park before several people reported they heard gunshots coming from the mobile home early Wednesday morning.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Bob Bromage says Port Royal police officers were fired upon from the mobile home. Bromage says Rouzard emerged about two hours later from the home armed with a shotgun. Port Royal officers fired upon Rouzard and took him into custody. No one was injured.

The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division will investigate the Port Royal officers’ use of their firearms.
