TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) - The CEO of a south-central Idaho hospital has announced his resignation, which comes weeks after a medication mistake resulted in a child’s death at the facility.

CEO of St. Luke’s East Region Jim Angle resigned Wednesday. The hospital says Angle had informed St. Luke’s of his intent to resign several months ago, and the resignation is not connected to the child’s death at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center.

Officials say the hospital has already narrowed down candidates for a new site administrator position at the Magic Valley facility. The hospital is expected to announce the new leader in coming days.

Seven-month-old August Dean Elliott died in September after a nurse gave him an adult dose of a saline solution infused with potassium phosphate.
