SPRINGDALE, Ohio (AP) - Police in suburban Cincinnati say a Louisiana man was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after his young son was found wandering in an extended-stay hotel in the middle of the night.

Springdale police say an employee at Crossland Economy Studios found the toddler in a hallway around 3 a.m. Thursday. Officer Molly Norris says police eventually determined the father was watching the child while the mother was away working, and he didn’t realize the boy had made his way out of a playpen and left their room.

Police say the 28-year-old man from Montpelier, Louisiana, was arrested.

Norris says the boy’s mother went to get him from a family services agency, where he’d been taken when officers couldn’t locate his parents in their initial contacts with hotel tenants.
