ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Bay area police are warning residents to keep their pets inside after two recent cat mutilations.

St. Petersburg police issued the advisory Friday.

A news release says someone reported finding a neighbor’s cat dead in their front yard last week. Police say the animal had been cleanly cut in half. A second cat killed in a similar manner was discovered Thursday.

Anyone with information about the dead cats should call 727-893-7780.
