SAN DIEGO (AP) - A 4-year-old boy is recovering at a hospital after being bitten by a baby rattlesnake in San Diego County.

The child’s mother tells KNSD-TV (https://bit.ly/1VJh0Ki ) her son was playing with his cousin when he picked up the small snake Thursday at a home in Ramona.

The snake bit the boy on a finger, which swelled up.

The child was airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he will be monitored for the next few days.
