NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Police believe they have identified the body of a man who was found dead in a parked car with a gunshot wound to his chest in New Haven.

Police said in a release that they could not confirm the spelling of the man’s first name, but that they believe 29-year-old Antwan Heath, of West Haven, was the man found dead Thursday night on Chapel Street west of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard. They believe Heath was shot while in the vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived after reports of gunfire around 7:30 p.m. Police say Heath was brought to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are searching for the gunman but have no details on the suspect’s appearance.
