HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Hartford man says he kicked and held a man at gunpoint after discovering a burglar at his father’s home shoving Christmas decorations into a garbage bag.

The Hartford Courant reports (https://cour.at/1MhIJY4 ) the man says the front door was open Wednesday evening, and he took his handgun out after noticing items were missing. He told police he holstered the pistol after finding the suspect in a bedroom and tried to call police.

Police say the 43-year-old suspect was struck and fell to the ground in a semi-conscious state. The property owner says he removed the suspect’s belt, bound his arms behind his back and waited for police.

The suspect told police he was using the home’s restroom.

He was arraigned Thursday and his bail has been set at $150,000.
