BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies say three St. Martin Parish residents have been arrested for cockfighting.

The Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1jfibQy) investigators with the sheriff’s office received information about suspected cockfighting at a home in Breaux Bridge. Following an extensive investigation into the allegations, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon.

While searching the residence, investigators found items related to cockfighting along with 48 roosters and approximately 300 hens and chicks. The animals were confiscated.

Three men, identified as 50-year-old Patrick Stelly of Washington, 30-year-old Dallas Grossie, of Butte La Rose, and 28-year-old Brandon Cormier, of Breaux Bridge, were arrested and booked with multiple counts of cruelty to animals and cockfighting.

No bond has been set.
