RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - Sergio Maldonado will begin as Wyoming’s new liaison with the Northern Arapaho Tribe on Monday.

The Ranger of Riverton reports (https://bit.ly/1L3DNrY ) that Gov. Matt Mead announced Thursday that Maldonado would take the position, contingent on confirmation by legislators.

Maldonado will have to leave his teaching position at Central Wyoming College to act as liaison.

The business councils for the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes each provided nominations for liaisons through a new selection process that came into effect this year.

The Eastern Shoshone Tribe hired Leslie Shakespeare, who was appointed by Mead in July.

Both liaisons will have their own office at the state capitol building in Cheyenne.
