KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - Flathead County investigators were unable to determine the cause of a motor home fire that killed an 8-year-old girl.

Undersheriff Dave Leib tells the Flathead Beacon (https://bit.ly/1Opor4W) the Oct. 1 fire burned so hot and fast investigators could not determine a cause. The body of Autumn Hawk was found just outside the trailer. An autopsy found she died of smoke inhalation and burns. A toxicology report is still pending.

The girls’ parents suffered some burns.

Leib says the girl’s mother reported she was cooking on the stove and Autumn was in the top bunk when the fire started.

A group of area residents plan to meet with Flathead County prosecutors on Tuesday to express concern that their reports about possible drug dealing and child neglect apparently weren’t investigated.
