DUNCAN, S.C. (AP) - Police are investigating the deaths of two people found in a Spartanburg County home but say it’s too early to know if the case is a homicide.

Duncan Police Chief C.E. Long tells local media outlets that police went to the house Wednesday night after a report of someone with a gun and a knife chasing a neighbor.

There they found a man and woman dead but neither died of gunshot wounds.

Long said it’s too early in the investigation to say if the deaths were a homicide.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the two as 47-year-old Douglas Evan Pearson and 38-year-old Crystal Denise McAbee who were acquaintances.

Clevenger says he could not determine a cause of death and is awaiting toxicology reports from autopsies performed Thursday.
