LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Los Angeles hotel owner and an alleged gunman have pleaded not guilty in the killing of a homeless man.

The Los Angeles Times (https://lat.ms/1OqftV1 ) says Sris Sinnathamby and Francisco Guzman entered pleas Wednesday to murder and attempted murder.

Sinnathamby owns the Cadillac Hotel in Venice Beach.

Prosecutors believe that he directed the attack that killed 26-year-old Jascent Warren last August. Another man was shot in the leg.

A witness told the Times the hotel owner had shouted at a homeless man outside the hotel before the shooting.

Authorities contend Guzman then opened fire on a group of homeless people.
