WASHINGTON (AP) - D.C. police say they are investigating two incidents in which officers fired at suspects.

In the first incident occurred during a pursuit Thursday night near 7th Street and Mississippi Avenue in southeast Washington. Police say a man fired at officers and one officer returned fire. Police say the man escaped and two guns were found.

The second incident occurred during a traffic stop on Bladensburg Road in northeast. Police say a man pointed a handgun at the officer and the officer fired at the man, who drove off, crashed and then ran. Police say a man who later appeared at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm is being held as a fugitive, pending charges of assault on a police officer. Police say a gun was found.
