DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a runway blackout at the Des Moines International Airport delayed or diverted a dozen flights scheduled to arrive at the airport Thursday night.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1MhYNcr ) that lights along the runway went dark around 8 p.m. Thursday. Airport officials say the problem was traced to a lightning strike last week, which weakened an electrical wire.

Officials say the problem has been fixed and that the runway lights came back on just before midnight. The station says at least two flights landed in Des Moines after 1:00 a.m. Friday.
