GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - Sussex County residents affected by last week’s storm are being asked to submit damage claims.

WBOC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1FV1bJi) that anyone whose home or business sustained damage in the powerful coastal storm should call the county’s Emergency Operations Center at (302) 856-7366. Property owners should be prepared to detail the damage, what caused it and whether they have insurance.

Only businesses and primary residences, not seasonal homes, are eligible.

Center Director Joseph Thomas says emergency managers need the public to provide information so they can assess the damage.

Officials say they plan to map the reports in order to gain a clearer sense of what issues the storm caused. The assessment reports will be shared with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency for consideration toward any future federal disaster assistance application.
