TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - The Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association said significant progress will be made on the Elvis Presley Birthplace Trail in the coming weeks.

As part of the 18-month, $11.5 million project, downtown Tupelo will connect to the Elvis Birthplace and Museum.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1Llqm89 ) the work downtown includes new landscaping and planter beds, bricked pedestrian crosswalks, crossing signals, new lighting and re-striping of Main Street.

The Elvis Birthplace Trail is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2016.
