MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The president of the University of Mobile is retiring after 17 years of overseeing the campus in north Mobile County.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1LDBkYT) that Mark Foley’s retirement is effective July 31, 2016, or until a successor is in place.

The news site reports that Foley announced his retirement during Thursday’s meeting of the university’s board of trustees. Board Chairman Terry Harbin said the board has formed a search committee.

Al.com reports that Foley is a former truck stop operator who entered the ministry in the 1980s and rose to become the third president at the University of Mobile.
