PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A water main break has closed part of a Philadelphia street popular for its restaurants, bars and nightlife.

The rupture happened around 11 p.m. Thursday on South Street near 5th Street.

Water could be seen bubbling out of a manhole cover and cascading through an intersection.

The street remained closed and several businesses were without water Friday morning as crews made repairs.
