LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a 57-year-old woman has died after the motorized wheelchair she was riding was struck by a pickup truck on a busy thoroughfare in southeast Las Vegas.

Detective Karl Tomaso, a Las Vegas police traffic investigator, said the scooter wasn’t in a crosswalk when the woman was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado a little before 4:30 a.m. Friday on Nellis Boulevard just south of Desert Inn Road.

The woman was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center. Her name wasn’t immediately made public.

The driver, 50-year-old Armando Castro-Lopez of Las Vegas, remained at the scene.

Tomaso says the crash remains under investigation.
