CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Yavapai County authorities say a man has died after the Jeep he was driving rolled 80 feet down an embankment in a remote area in Chino Valley.

County Sheriff’s officials on Tuesday identified the victim as 44-year-old Gabriel Ramirez of Chino Valley.

They say Ramirez’s 34-year-old cousin and a 5-year-old boy also were in the vehicle and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Ramirez’s cousin told authorities that the Jeep started to slide on its second attempt to drive up a hill and then stalled while in reverse, slid off some rocks and rolled.

Ramirez suffered a severe laceration to his arm and was trying to stop the bleeding when he told his cousin and the boy to leave him there and seek help.

A helicopter crew arrived to find Ramirez dead.
