PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A Forest Grove middle school teacher has been arrested on prostitution and methamphetamine possession allegations.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/Tj6qpg) Mike Maraia was arraigned in Multnomah County Circuit Court Monday.

The 50-year-old math teacher was arrested Friday after being pulled over by a Portland police officer during a traffic stop.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Maraia had been inside the vehicle with a younger woman. During a search of the vehicle, the officer found meth and a meth pipe.

The affidavit says that Maraia told the officer he had planned to pay the woman $80 to have sex with him and that he planned to do drugs with her.

Maraia declined comment Monday.

A school district spokeswoman says Maraia works at Neil Armstrong Middle School.
