JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Longtime Mississippi TV journalist Bert Case is hospitalized in critical condition.

WAPT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1EA0apv ) Tuesday that 76-year-old Case fell ill Monday. His wife, Mary, says he has a sepsis infection.

Citing the family’s wish for privacy, the station didn’t report where he’s hospitalized.

Case recently celebrated his 50th year on the air in the Jackson market.

One of his most memorable on-camera interviews happened in June 1999. Case, then with WLBT-TV, asked Gov. Kirk Fordice about traveling to Paris with a woman who wasn’t the first lady.

Fordice had moved out of the Governor’s Mansion and was living in the Jackson suburb of Madison. The governor used an obscenity to say he would whip Case if the reporter showed up again after Fordice was no longer governor.
