COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A 56-year-old man faces a possible life prison sentence after being convicted of snatching a 12-year-old Columbus girl from a park and raping her.

A Franklin County jury on Monday found Vent Hairston guilty of two counts of rape and one count of kidnapping.

The Columbus Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1IAce54 ) reports the girl wandered away from family at a park on the city’s northeast side on April 5, 2013. Her mother testified that Hairston, who didn’t know the family, called her cellphone and said he had the girl and was dropping her off.

The girl said he had taken her in his van to an apartment and raped her. The girl led police to a nearby apartment, where the van was parked. Investigators identified Hairston’s DNA in the girl’s clothing.
