CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Yavapai County authorities say a man has died after the Jeep he was driving fell 80 feet down an embankment in a remote area in Chino Valley.

The Daily Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1huooqe ) a male passenger and a 5-year-old child were also in the vehicle. They sustained injuries that were not life threatening.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says deputies responded to the area Sunday night after the passenger alerted authorities. The passenger and the child had hiked the area in search of a location with cell service.

A helicopter located the Jeep, and crew members confirmed that the driver, a man who appeared to be in his 40s, had died.

D’Evelyn says deputies are still investigating the exact cause of the crash.
